FAQ’s

  1. What is the Curriculum?

Check out the detailed curriculum, including sample class videos:

    • Students: For students currently enrolled in high school or as a degree seeking student in a college/university, the Quality Science Education Micro Credential Program consists of 3 industry-developed courses, and 2 courses you take through your university (Business Acumen and Microbiology). • Non-Students: For Non-Students (i.e. industry professionals and non-students): Any industry experience you have will be taken into account, and as a result, the Business Acumen and Microbiology courses might be waived. In those cases, the Quality Science Education Micro Credential Program consists of the 3 industry-developed courses. Quality Science Education Curriculum - for Non-Students

  2. Duration: All 3 industry-developed courses are offered during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters each year. Please check the Academic Calendar for course start and end dates.

  3. Time Commitment: Plan on spending approximately 3-5 hours per week for each course, which includes class-time and assignments. Summer semester commitment is 5-7 hours per week due to the shortened semester.

  4. How is the program offered? The program is an online, pre-recorded program that is run with a live cohort of students. The Professor holds live online classes to prepare for the midterm exam and final exam, engages with students on ideas and questions, and may provide opportunities for live industry sessions. Also, Contact Pathway to find out if your school is offering the program for academic credit or to see if your company is a Corporate Member where a course discount will be applied.

  5. What is the Mentorship Program?

    • Students: You will have an opportunity to be paired with an industry member who has a background based on interests you express when you sign up for the program. You will complete a short self-reflection to guide your discussion, and will have one 2 hour meeting with your mentor.

    • Industry Professionals: We encourage you to take the opportunity to mentor one of our students currently in school. This is a volunteer opportunity for you to have an impact on the future career path of the next generation of professionals. We hear from our mentors that this program is extremely rewarding to them as well! Here is a link to Volunteer.

You may both decide to continue the relationship!

  6. What is the Outcome? Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive certification from Pathway that can be designated after your name as “CQSP” - Certified Quality Science Professional. Our goal is also for your hiring success through the Pathway Hiring Platform!

  7. What is the Pathway Hiring Platform and how is it different than Handshake, Indeed or other platforms? The Pathway Hiring Platform is available only to QSE students seeking internship and job opportunities, and Pathway Corporate Members who are hiring. Pathway Corporate Members are actively seeking candidates who have an understanding of quality science, and the platform provides them access to only those individuals. This helps them refine their search to highly qualified candidates and helps students be recognized for their unique credentials as a QSE student!
